Marianne Beel Scholarship
Offers a $500 scholarship to rural high school students who "have a heart for photography, writing, videography, or who keep a strong social media/online presence for their school publication or employer." Deadline is March 22, 2019.

Mike Rowe's Work Ethic Scholarship Program
Open to students who are enrolled, or plan to enroll, in an approved trade program. Deadline is March 28, 2019.

Nebraska Society of Mayflower Descendants
You do not have to be a direct descendant to apply. Deadline is March 31, 2019.

AgriLegacy(TM) Tomorrow, Agricultural Scholarship
Scholarship open to high school seniors or current, full-time college students studying an ag-related field. Deadline is April 1, 2019.

Fairmont Alumni Association
Offers a $1,200 scholarship to high school seniors who live in the original Fairmont Public School District. Needs to be addressed to the Fairmont Public Library, PO Box 428, Fairmont, NE 68354. Applications available from high school counselor. Deadline is April 1, 2019.

James L. Stephenson Memorial Scholarship
Offers a $2,000 scholarship to a high school senior who is going into any agriculture-related field. Payment is sent after the first year of college classes when the scholarship committee receives proof of college attendance. This scholarship is usually announced in The Nebraska Signal and is available for download here. Deadline is April 1, 2019.

Fairmont Community Club
Offers a $500 scholarship to a legal resident of Fairmont. The application requirements include resume, one letter of recommendation, and a personal essay that will be announced in the spring of 2019. Applications available from high school counselor. Deadline will be early April, 2019.

Fillmore County Foundation
Eight scholarships across three categories are awarded each year, with various requirements. For history assistance - see the full Fillmore County Storybook online for free on the Geneva Public Library website here. Applications must be given to your high school counselor, who submits all in one package. Deadline is April 15, 2019.

Geneva Masonic Lodge
There is no formal application outside of the generic local scholarship paperwork the school guidance counselors at FC/EM/Shickley provides. Two $500 scholarships are awarded each year to students from Fillmore County. Masonic Lodge affiliation is not necessary. Applications are to be mailed or delivered to Jack Jacobs, 522 S. 9th St., Geneva, NE 68361. Deadline is April 15 of each year.

Geneva Rotary Club
There is no formal application outside of the generic local scholarship paperwork the school guidance counselor at Fillmore Central provides. Students who have parents in the Geneva Rotary Club and/or who are in Boy Scout Troop 175 take priority, although scholarships may be given to any Fillmore Central student. Applications are to be mailed directly to Geneva Rotary Club, PO Box 41, Geneva, NE 68361. Deadline is April 15 of each year.

Peru State
Offers a $100 scholarship to first-year students who take a selfie during a scheduled campus visit. Deadline is May 1, 2019.

Society of Women Engineers
Open to sophomores through graduate students who identify as female and are pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field. Deadline for incoming college freshman is May 1, 2019.

Nebraska Hospital Association
Offers ten $1,500 scholarships to undergraduates pursuing a heathcare career; and eight $3,000 scholarships to graduate level students pursuing advanced education in a health care career. Deadline is May 17, 2019.
Positive Coaching Alliance
This Triple-Impact Competitor(R) scholarship is open to any high school junior playing for a high school team or is in club sports. Deadline is May 31, 2019.

American Ground Water Trust scholarships
Offers three scholarships for entry level college students purusing a career in the field of ground water. Deadline for all three scholarships is June 1, 2019.

This $1,500 scholarship will be given to an incoming college freshman or existing student that "currently cares for an aging loved one, works within the senior community, or intends to pursue a career with the elder population". Deadline is June 15, 2019.

Club Thrifty Scholarship
Offers a $1,000 scholarship based on a short essay. Deadline is June 30, 2019.

Hylan Family Dental Scholarship
Offers a $2,500 scholarship to any career path (not dental-specific). Requires essay with application. Deadline is June 30, 2019.

Solar Action Alliance Scholarship
Offers a $1,000 scholarship based on a brief essay. Deadline is July 1, 2019. Senior Caregiver Scholarship
Offers a $2,000 scholarship to a student who has been a caregiver for a senior friend or relative. Do not have to be pursuing a career in health care or senior care. Deadline is July 15, 2019.

Financial Futures Scholarship
Offers a $1,000 scholarship to students pursuing a career in the personal finance industry. Deadline is July 31, 2019.

Spirit of Giving Scholarship
Wine Country Gift Baskets awards three $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors and current college students. Must write an essay. Deadline is July 31, 2019.

Best Care Seat Hub scholarships
Offers a scholarship broken down into first, second, and third place, based on an essay or video on one of several writing prompts about child or pet car seat safety. Deadline is August 1, 2019.

DDSRank Dental Scholarship
Offers a $500 scholarship to students pursuing a career in the dentistry field. Deadline is September 22, 2019.

AES Engineers
This scholarship is not just for engineering students. Deadline is October 6, 2019.

National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
Offers several scholarships related to pursuing a degree in various strength- or conditioning-related fields. Deadline for all scholarships listed is October 15, 2019.

American Legion
Several scholarships are available, all with different close dates.

Dual Credit support scholarship
The Access College Early (ACE) Scholarship Program pays tuition and mandatory fees for qualified, low-income high school students to enroll in college courses from Nebraska colleges or universities, either through dual-enrollment or early enrollment agreements with these institutions. Closing dates vary by the college semester the student is applying for.

Available scholarships vary throughout the year, with various deadlines.

UNO incoming freshman scholarships
Several scholarships are available, all with various deadlines.

One scholarship is available for employees and another scholarship is available for children of employees.

AKSARBEN Scholarships, including Horation Alger State Scholarship
These scholarships are granted yearly to Nebraska and Western Iowa residents who have shown perseverance in overcoming adversity. Renewable for four years, the funding is matched by several Nebraska colleges, including Creighton, Bellevue, and Saint Mary's. Students submit a transcript, support form, parent; tax return, and proof of U.S. citizenship. Deadline was October 25, 2018.

UNK's Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP) scholarship
This health-related scholarship is open to high school seniors. Deadline was December 1, 2018. The next application period will open in August 2019.

Burger King
The program assists Burger King employees, employees' spouses or domestic partners, employees' children and high school seniors in the United States. Deadline was December 15, 2018.

UNO's Urban Health Opportunities Program (UHOP)
Tution assistance for students from diverse backgrounds interested in health care fields. Deadline was December 17, 2018.

Deadline was January 15, 2019. The next scholarship application period will open October 1, 2019.

Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP)
This tuition waiver scholarship is a cooperative program between UNMC, Chadron, Wayne, and Peru, for health-related fields. The purpose is to recruit and education high school students from rural Nebraska who will return to practice in rural areas of Nebraska. Deadline was November 15, 2018.

Willa Cather Foundation
Three of the scholarships on this website currently apply to high school seniors. Deadlines were January 31, 2019 or February 28, 2019.

Warren and Velda Wilson Foundation
This scholarship becomes available in December from school counselors ONLY, and due in February. Only 35 percent of any senior class is allowed to apply. Talk to your school counselor for more information or if you have questions.

Nebraska State College System
Offers two different scholarships to high school students attending one of the three state colleges. Deadline was February 1, 2019.

Susan T. Buffett Foundation
It is specifically for those attending a Nebraska community college, a Nebraska state college, or a University of Nebraska campus. Deadline was February 1, 2019.

National Future Farmers of America (FFA) organization
Several scholarships available, some specifically for FFA members and some for non-FFA members. Deadline was February 6, 2019.

John Stossel essay contest
Essay contest open to writers aged 12 through 18. First place prize is $1,500 and all-expenses-paid trip to New York City, with 86 other prize levels with cash rewards. Deadline was February 15, 2019.

Taco Bell Foundation's Live Mas Scholarship
This scholarship awards millions of dollars each year and is for people not employed by Taco Bell. There is a separate Live Mas scholarship program for restaurant employees. Deadline for both scholarships was February 21, 2019.

Sowers Club of Nebraska
Offers four scholarships with various requirements, at least one is open to high school students. Deadline was February 25, 2019.

Mary F. Tous Charitable Foundation Scholarship
A formal application must be given to your high school counselor, who submits all in one package. Deadline was February 28, 2019.

American Legion Auxiliary
Several scholarships are available. Deadline was March 1, 3019.

Blue Valley Community Action
Deadline was March 1, 2019.

4-H Scholarships
Several scholarships are available to 4-H members through the Nebraska 4-H Foundation. Deadline was March 1, 2019.

June Russell Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is from the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC)/Nebraska Federation of Women's Clubs (NFWC). Application deadline is March 1 of each year. Eligible applicants must be a high school senior young woman who is planning to further her education at an accredited institution/college/university within the State of Nebraska. The young woman must be related to a GFWC/NFWC member. Applications are available from high school guidance counselors, any NFWC member, or download here.

Women in Farm Economics (WIFE) Scholarships
Offers a $1,00 Marilyn Spiker/Sheila Massey Memorial scholarship, sponsored by WIFE and the Foundation for Agricultural Education and Development (FAED). Application form available here. Deadline was March 1, 2019. Also offers a $1,000 Cynthia Thomsen scholarship, sponsored by WIFE. Application form available here. Deadline was March 1, 2019.

Fillmore County Hospital Foundation
This scholarship is announced in The Nebraska Signal, typically at the end of the year, and is for students pursuing a career in the health care field. Application is available here. Deadline is March 15, 2019.

Lincoln Community Foundation
A wide variety of scholarships are available on the LCF site or the LCF Academics Works site, all with different eligibility requirements. Deadline for most is March 15, 2019.

Nebraska Aviation Trades Association
A $1,000 and a $500 scholarship will be awarded to any high school senior or individual who is a resident of Nebraska continuing their education and a full time student. Deadline is March 15, 2019.

P.E.O. Sisterhood
The national scholarship is the STAR Scholarship. Students have to apply in mid-September to the local chapter to be nominated (by the local PEO chapter) for the eligibility to apply for the national scholarship. The local scholarship application is available through the high school guidance counselor or here. Deadline is March 15, 2019.

UNK's Public Health Early Admissions Student Track (PHEAST) scholarship
This health-related scholarship is open to high school sophomores and juniors. Deadline is March 15, 2019.

Nebraska Association of County Extension Boards (NACEB)
NACEB sponsors a $1,000 scholarship for a UNL College of Agriculture Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) or College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) incoming freshman or transfer student and a $500 scholarship for current student sophomores or higher. Deadline is March 16, 2019. See the Fillmore County Extension office for applications or go to the NACEB website.

A November 13, 2017 article but the scholarships listed frequently repeat each year. Not all are open to high school students. Of interest to science fiction writers, horror writers, "Star Trek" fans, "Magic: The Gathering" fans, artists/illustrators, and animation creators.
